Letha Goodman’s Real Talk: Be Kinder to Yourself

Small acts of kindness can make a huge difference to people experiencing difficult times. No matter how small, a simple gesture can make a meaningful impact on someone else’s life. And you know what, it’s a win-win situation. When we lend a helping hand, we feel happy and satisfied because, in our little way, we can make someone smile and feel better.

Have you ever felt the need to give some encouraging words to a sister you haven’t seen and talked to in a while? Should you reach out to an ex-best friend battling a life-threatening illness? Of course, we’re all different, sometimes with opposing views. But, at the end of the day, we’re all humans. So let’s connect with one another. There’s nothing good conversations and a smile cannot fix!

Here’s the real challenge. Why is it so hard to reach out to loved ones when you, yourself, are feeling down? We’re so great at giving good advice to our family members and friends but those words of encouragement, we, ourselves, never follow? Take care of yourself first to care for others around you.

Be kind to yourself first. Only then can you be a beacon of hope to others and live your life with purpose. Are you feeling lost and unable to connect with people around you?! Letha Goodman’s new show, Real Talk, can help you make a fresh start. Be the best you can be today and help others be the best they can be tomorrow.

Be Kind to Yourself and to Others

As we deal with day-to-day stressors at work and home, we fail to engage in our usual hobbies and self-care habits. Almost everyone goes through this stage, especially moms and other women dealing with professional and personal conflicts.

We help our kids do their homework and prepare for school every day. You continue to be part of your close friends’ social support network, getting in touch amid your busy schedule. We feel sad and overwhelmed as a result of zero personal improvement progress. We get to be there for others but not for ourselves.

I know making huge positive changes in your life sounds impossible, but the solution is actually pretty simple. Take time for yourself! Get out and have fun. If you don’t have much time, you don’t need to go that far. Quality time with people who matter or a quick alone time in the nearby park can help you relax and boost your mood.

Be kind to yourself, and the rest will follow. Listen to yourself first to become a better listener to a friend in need. A healthier, happier you can better support the people around you. You’ll be able to give them genuine smiles and honest advice without worries clouding your mind.

They say that helping others is the key to lasting happiness and fulfillment. The power of your words alone can turn someone’s life around for the better. So strike up elaborate conversations and cover even those discussions we sometimes don’t want to have. Only then can we enlighten them and lead them to the right path.

If you want to practice compassion and have a more fulfilling life, Letha’s Real Talk is for you! She’s here to equip you with the knowledge you need to be the best person you can be, so you can better take care of the people around you.
